Made with paperclay from ‘Valentines’ Earthenware body. With underglazes and glaze. Electric kiln fired. Approx 30cms height. They are all individually hand made and the clay is intentionally textured, manipulated and then stretched to the point of breaking, and yet formed into a structure strong enough to withstand the stresses of the firing process. A highly difficult balancing act. The stretches and tears reflect the light that filters through branches and the colours and shapes are inspired by trees indigenous to the UK.
I can make trees like these to commission (30-40cms width/height). In natural colours, bright colours or bronze glaze.

Note: I can make individual totems like this, in any size, to commission. The shape, colour, and symbolic language would be entirely based upon the client. Therefore, each would be completely different.
